In a letter, Mr. Jean-Luc Demarty, Director-General of the Directorate-General Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission, made a recommendation to Bulgaria to suspend payments on two measures of SAPARD-Programme – Measure 1.1 Investments in agricultural holdings and Measure 2.1 Development and diversification of economic activities, provision for multiple activities and alternative income, announced Deputy Prime-Minister, Ms. Meglena Plugchieva in a joined press conference with Mr. Valeri Tsvetanov, the Minister of Agriculture and Food in the Council of Ministers.

In regard with the United Nations International Year of the Potato 2008, a national campaign “Potatoes – Traditions and Future” under the auspice of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Valery Tsvetanov is being held.
